I completed the first Unlocking Creativity course last year and was already impressed by how much I learned as a writer. I recently finished the Writers' Gym course and felt pushed even further. The way in which the course is laid out gives a lot of insight to accessing your inner imagination but also tools that make putting it into words possible. The atmosphere in the courses is always very positive and the tutor's leave very detailed feedback on your assignments. Going through these courses has actually given me the tools and confidence that I needed to finish a lifelong dream of mine - to write a book! So I have signed up for the 10 month first draft course. The only thing I could say was lacking was interaction with the tutors themselves. But I realize with the short courses this would be difficult. I'm hoping I'll get a bit more interaction during the 10 month first draft course.

Took part in the Unlocking Creativity Course in March 2021, and honestly enjoyed it immensely. Suitable for novice, intermediate and advanced writers, I have already recommended this course to family and friends and have plans on giving it as a gift - would highly recommend, given the feedback aspect and the advantages it presents through self-driven learning and one-on-one tuition.
Completed the 4 week, Unlocking Creativity Course run by Richard. What can I say about this stellar business and the support they have given me? Since my time there I can honestly say my life on and off the writing desk have dramatically improved. The people you will meet and share with will inspire you as well as encourage you through the supporting environment that has been cultivated in The Writer’s Studio. I have completed more writing and have learned more than I was expecting to. Even if you think you know a lot, there is ALWAYS more to learn and that journey is where the true fun lies. I can’t wait to come back for another course in the near future.
I have just completed the initial 4 week course on writing creatively. What is my word limit here I ask?The rewards from participating in this course are immeasurable. After years of prompting from others I did not realise "I had it in me" to write creatively. Course managers and registered participants-outstanding. I became non-fearful of letting the ink flow out of my pen as words and surprised myself. Mentors-Christine, Leone and Kathleen superb critical educators. I cannot foretell if and when a book may emerge but the sheer fun of writing is my playground. This joy exceeds a best seller (at the moment) and I do no want to limit the word flows. My April course awaits my participation. In the meantime back to writing in my mind and on paper and computer screen. Grazia mille.
I have just completed the four week Unlocking Creativity course and I can say that it was a revelation. It was utterly rewarding to be composing pieces under the rigorous but relaxed guidance of Roland and Kathleen, and also my own dedicated tutor, who was the most insightful, generous, encouraging person imaginable. The course was not a pushover by any means, but I found that if I followed the teaching on structure, letting go of inhibitions, and many other nuggets of pure gold, my imagination took over and I was able to write! The other participants, whose work we all read and with whom we all exchanged feedback were an incredible group of mutually supportive people. I unreservedly recommend this wonderful course to anyone who wants to connect or reconnect with their creativity. Go for it!
I recently completed the online Unlocking Creativity course and found it very worthwhile and helpful on many levels: motivation, guidance, feedback (from the tutor and other participants) and, of course, deadlines. And as well as useful, it was also enjoyable. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to try flexing their writing muscles and I intend to do further courses with the Writer's Studio.
I have just completed the 6 week Short Story Genre course, wow !! This course was such a great building block following on from Unlocking Creativity earlier in the year. We were set four Genre short story tasks and each time i thought "I don't know how to write about this subject" but with the support and tools provided, it happened! Then came the Tutors feedback and that of my fellow writers, so many ideas and so much encouragement, we all pressed on to complete a very worthwhile step to becoming a 'writer'. Can't wait to start my next course Novel - First Draft. Thank you Writers Studio.
Sometimes we scan information so quickly, often just moving on without too much thought. I nearly did when an advertisement popped up for The Writers’ Studio, Unlocking Creativity 4 week course. I’m so pleased that I allowed my fingers and mind to settle for a minute. The course provides a safe and fertile space for beginner to advanced writers to rediscover a love of imagination. You learn techniques and hints to overcome stagnation, build complex characters and basic story structure, all the time enjoying the process and having fun. Using the writers’ board during the course allows you to read, provide support and generous feedback to fellow participants, and it’s where your tutor gives enthusiastic and comprehensive reviews of submitted work. The course is very detailed and flies by too quickly. Many thanks to my most outstanding tutor Annie , without you encouragement I may never have signed for further courses with the Writers’ Studio. It’s truly wonderful!
