On the day of my mother's funeral the hearse & car arrived late. The service was lovely! I had requested my mother's ashes as it was her wish to be scattered at another crematorium in a family plot, and was told I would have to pick them up the day after the funeral which I was unable to do. I requested they be couriered to me and was quoted the cost would be no more 100. Approximately 10 days later I was told it was an extra 40, which was paid. 3 weeks later my mother's ashes still had not arrived after being told they would be at the destination in 10 days. We went to the local Coop funeralcare nearest the address they were being sent to for advice. The lady there was very sympathetic & helpful. She very kindly made several phone calls to Thetford and eventually they arrived at their premises in a bio degradable bag, the day after. Which was in fact 4 weeks after my mother's cremation at West Suffolk crematorium. They had also been couriered the day before, so the staff at Thetford Coop funeralcare had lied about posting them 10 days prior, and blamed staff shortages. Floral tributes from a family member were unable to be delivered to Thetford funeralcare the day before the cremation, again blaming staff shortages. This was rectified after a phone call. The so called caring & sympathetic approach of Coop funeralcare, Bury Road Thetford, of the deceased & their bereaved family, was a total disgrace. All we wanted was to lay my mother in her final requested resting place as soon after her Cremation. Not have her sitting on a shelf in a biogradable bag somewhere for weeks on end. It has caused me so much stress for my family & I to have to chase this company for my mother's ashes, so we can lay finally lay her to rest in her final resting place 40 days after her cremation. She did not deserve this treatment.
