If you want to learn about Japanese Buddhism then this is the place to go. One has to make an appointment. They give talks and classes on Buddhism and culture. And are very welcoming. The garden is very tranquil and open to the public on the National Open Garden Day. Nearest station is Acton Town on the District and Piccadilly lines. In close proximity to Gunnersbury Park.

Unbelievable a tear of Japan in midle of London. Unbelievable, must see it.
It was amazing experience for me to be able to visit Zen garden again yesterday, the day of Garden Open for Charity. Compare to my first private visit which was really quiet and peaceful, this time temple has different atmosphere in positive sense because of the fund raising for National Garden Scheme. The entrance fee for the fund of National Garden Scheme, 3 pounds, is worthwhile to donate to charities to help people! To be able to listen to a talk given by the designer of the garden was good to know and it was given free of charge. (Unfortunately, the person who put a feedback below misunderstood the entrance fee as the charge for this talk.) Japanese tea ceremony was also enjoyable and really cheap. (I have never experienced any tea ceremonies for such price.) All female people in the tea ceremony welcomed me wearing Japanese traditional Kimono!! It means, I believe, they welcomed all visitors in the politest way in Japanese tradition. If you are interested in Zen garden or Japanese culture, I recommend you to visit next garden open weekend. If you are seeking for Buddhism or peaceful atmosphere, it may be better to visit TW for meditation class or at other religious activities.
Interesting but a bit disappointing. The temple is in a terraced house, the zen garden in the back garden. It's lovely but there was about 40 people crammed into the small back garden. The talk, which cost 3, was rather long and technical, and there wasn't any opportunity to experience the point of the garden (peaceful contemplation?). The tea ceremony (another 3) was quite nice but little explanation, and felt a bit rushed as there was only room for 10 and others queueing to go in. In all, felt a bit like a money making exercise
This is very traditional Japanese Temple founded in 1994 as a branch. There are two kind priests and their teaching is excellent. Also this temple has very beautiful Stone Garden, it is very worthwhile to visit! This temple has many variety of religious activities such as meetings, talks, lectures and so on. I am learning Japanese Buddhism and Japanese culture as well.
