Soup was awesome. Stew with chicken too salty. And meat was raw. After I pointed to that - it was overcooked, rubbery. Without any taste. I cook much better at home. Children’s pasta with ketchup and mayonnaise 9 euro. My baby didn’t liked it. But at home she can eat pasta with everything. I was so disappointed:(

Me and my husband decided to try one cockle spaguetti and one menu of the day (soup of avocado, pear and zucchini; ravioli and ice cream). Everything was delicious! Definitely a must go in every itinerary in Tomar. ... And the soup... can't forget it!

We bumped into the restaurant by chance and decided to have dinner there. Don't regret it even one bit. The food is really good and tasty. Just like I said to chef Gilbert, the flavours almost \explode\ when you're eating. Also, the friendly and familiar environment makes your experience even better. Will be back very soon.

Always fantastic food, fantastic service and never disappoints. Can't add photos as I've normally wooded half of it down before I think to take pics

I can only give 5 stars? I would give more. I had lunch at Chez Gilbert with 3 friends today. We all agreed that Chez Gilbert is the best restaurant in Tomar, absolutely hands down. I'll go farther to say that it's among the best restaurants I've eaten in, in all of Portugal. We started with an amuse-bouche trio of grilled octopus, smoked salmon and scallop. The beautiful bites were served with a tomato gazpacho. We then moved to the starter - a carpaccio with goat cheese, grapefruit sections, and other wonderful things that I can't remember because it was too delicious to stop and think about. For our main course we had sea bass - perfectly grilled, served with spinach, roasted potatoes and a freshly made and incredible mayonaisse. The hits kept coming, as the dessert was a lemon meringue tart, and it was served with a tangy orange curd. Every single thing that came to the table was absolutely gorgeously plated. You can see the pride in the presentation, and the chefs experience and expertise is evidenced in every bite. An à la carte lunch for four, with two bottles of wine and two large bottles of water was 180 - pricy by local standards but none of us blinked an eye, as we all felt the price was justified, and a wonderful value. It was my second time here, having previously had an incredible dinner. I'll be back again, and it's the place that I'll pick whenever anyone asks where we should go.
