Nice medieval monastery. Interesting to visit if you are around the area. Beautiful surrounding

Really interesting FAI site almost hidden in the Olona Valley south of Varese. Beautifully restored. Interesting history going back to Roman times. You only need about an hour for the visit but would recommend going at lunch time so that you can profit from the great little restaurant on the site. Should be combined with a visit to the Castelserpio Archeological Park, of which it is a part.
Very pleasant spot and worth a visit. Not a large amount to see but combining your visit with the restaurant is highly recommended. Very good quality food for the price - 2 courses (3 choices of primo and secondo), wine, water and coffee for 15. Wise to book on sunny weekends. Free entry for UK National Trust members.
The place is nice and well kept however 8 euros for the visit is pretty expensive
The late-antique monastery was rescued in the Seventies from its abandonment. Interesting frescoes survive in the tower. 6 euros for the ticket is pretty expensive.
