After giving great thought to it, I became a mentor with TYMA almost 2 years ago. Shortly thereafter, there was an opportunity to become part of the team. After working in higher ed most of my career, I wanted to get back to giving back to my community. I have to say that I have never felt so humbled, not only by the work we do, but most importantly, by the kids we serve. There is such a great need and I don't do anything extraordinary with my mentee other than be there to do regular kinds of things - hang out, have a meal, include in things we do and provide some guidance. The work TYMA does is simple yet game-changing for kids and I am proud to be part of it!
