Terrible experience. On the phone the Indian guy at the front desk asked if I was from Toronto. I told him yes but I don't live in town anymore and moved away. He asked for proof and said we would sort it out when I got there. I went to the wrong door and there was a note that said to call the front desk. I did. The guy on the line was very annoyed and said that I was at the wrong door. Upon arrival at the front desk, the guy was very angry that he had tried to run my card and it had not worked. I set it that way on purpose so that people could not just run my card without consent. He wouldn't understand that and accused me of not being able to pay for the room. I tried to explain to no avail. Also, it's not okay that he tried to run my card before arrival when the booking clearly states that you pay upon arrival. I told him that I would turn the card on if he would just give me a moment. He refused and told me I couldn't check in. I asked him for a refund of the room deposit and he refused to give it to me. Overall terrible experience. Every time I spoke to him he gave me attitude or overt aggression.

The location cannot be beat. Kensington market, shops, stalls, restaurants and bars on the doorstep. Stayed 2 nights for an appt at Toronto Western, easily being able to stay close to hosp and have an historic part of Toronto to explore made this a great trip. Clean, friendly staff, kitchen, balcony, the bed in private room was super comfortable. I would trade a hotel stay for this anyday. Highly recommended whether you are a backpacker or in town fir a weekend. *my balcony view wasn't amazing but could definitely imagine it would be a fun party setting in the summer.

Excellent location in the heart of the city but the place itself was far from okay. We were not pleased at all unfortunately. And just a note for anyone wanting to stay: bathrooms and showers are NOT in your personal room. They are shared amongst the guests. Separate room for both showers and toilets for men and for women.

Because of covid they have a lot less staff. I got stuck out of the room in the morning when I went to the washroom, I was the only one in my room, so noone else could open it for me. So, when I called to management to see if they could open it for me around 8.40am, noone answer the phone, I waited more than half an hour out of my room.

It's a basic hostel, but if you can catch the rooms on sale, go for it. Just bring some extra toiletries because they aren't the quickest to refill. A lot better on the weekends though. They had bagels that were so good I didn't do anything but add a bit of butter because I didn't want to ruin how good it was.

The good things are the price and location . It was billed as a backpackers place so we were not expecting a lot. We booked a private room and it was clean and the floors were nice. The breakfast fellow was short staffed as someone was late but still seemed to have things in order. The front staff were courteous. Why 3 stars ?. They give you a towel but not a wash cloth. The washrooms had no paper towels or way to dry your hands. The staff misplaced my I'D. I did not find out until after I had left the city. They did mail it to me but with no cover letter or anything and it would have been easy for anyone to know this was some sort of card and steal it. Lastly the carpets in the hallways need some serious cleaning.

Welcoming & friendly staff. Great people at the reception. Perfect place to stay for an amazing downtown access, Food culture & lots of social events happening in the streets. Hostel beds are so comfortable; bathrooms were equipped & clean, kitchen is well equipped & clean. Hostel has secured access & is pretty safe place to stay

The place is relative expensive, or rather the services do not match the cost. No soap at the washrooms, and the washrooms dont have a place to hung your towel or clothes as well. You will need to carry a paddock for your safe.
