Narwhal is located in Toronto, Canada on 2104 Dundas St W. Narwhal is rated 4 out of 5 in the category art gallery in Canada. Narwhal is a multi-disciplinary art gallery presenting ambitious curatorial projects, collaborations, and solo exhibitions by gallery artists. Actively exploring convergences between contemporary art, design, and visual culture, Narwhal is critically engaged with the ways in which these overlaps have become entrenched in international contemporary art practices and dialogues. We work for the long-term career development of the artists we represent, placing their works in collections, acting as a liaison with other galleries and institutions, and publishing exhibition catalogues, artist multiples, and monographs on gallery artists. Through our commitment to the artists we work with, we create a base from which their oeuvres are promoted and archived, and support their critical exploration and development. Narwhal is an accessible public space that is a forum for engaging with discourses surrounding contemporary art, and the specific visions of the work we present. Narwhal curates exhibitions both locally and internationally. Our past projects and collaborations include Luminato, Nuit Blanche, AQUA Miami, The Japan Foundation, Come Up to My Room, UPArt, FITC, Design Festa (Japan), Pictoplasma (Germany), Harborfront Authors’ Festival, Greenpeace, Nintendo, Fido, CWC Japan and The Design Exchange. We also work within the ROJO Creative consortium and Lunch creative network and teach at OCADU. In 2010, we are working exclusively on events with Drawn & Quarterly, Roots Canada and hosting a rare exhibition of original work created by FriendsWithYou in tandem with the 2010 Luminato Festival in Toronto.
