As someone who just moved to Toronto, I've been struggling to find good Japanese food that has the quality I like. OH MY GOSH did Yuugi Izakaya exceed that expectation! Everything here tastes so fresh, even when delivered! I ate everything so fast I forgot to take pictures, but I order from here so often! I can't help but order the chicken karaage, omurice, and salmon sushi! Food is always fresh, even when delivered! This is my number one place to go for Sushi in Toronto! Edit: This is so adorable! I got 2 awesome drinks from them. :D Thank you so much Yuugi Izakaya! (Sorry for my awful pictures. I ordered during work hours lol)

I ordered take out and it was delicious! The Tebasaki chicken wings are a MUST BUY. Great balance of sweet and salty. The ebimayo has to be the best I've ever had with lots of shrimp inside and the perfect crunch. Typically restaurants offer regular mayo with this app, but the chili mayo that came with the fried ebi here was so good and tasted homemade. Will definitely order from Yuugi again!
A gem of a restaurant. My son and his wife were there a week ago with another couple. They were very impressed and recommended this place and the dishes that they enjoyed. Went today with my wife, my son and my daughter and we truly enjoyed it. From the service to the food and the presentation everything excelled our expectations. I rate it a 10 PLUS! We will be back...
One of the best Japanese sushi places! The menu isn't extensive but each item is well-prepared. The patio is spacious and the service is attentive, which I appreciate. It was lunch time on a Saturday but very peaceful and quiet. Highly recommended .
Went to Yuugi last night with a group of friends, and sat on the patio - we had such a great time! Intimate resto with amazing food, beautiful aesthetic, super kind and helpful staff. Will definitely come back :)
Had such an incredible meal here! It was a chilly day but Jeff, one of the owners, made sure we were warm enough by consistently checking on the patio heaters. Our cups were always full and every single dish was made with so much thought and care. I was very interested in trying the tebasaki to relive my days in Nagoya and they were sooo delicious. The grilled oysters were tasty and plump, such a great deal for happy hour, and pairs so well with the toast it comes with to mop up the juices. I’m glad we skipped breakfast so we could try more dishes. Portions were heftier than we thought and everything was on point!
Been wanting to write this review for a long time. I was so happy when I first found this place. I have been to this place so often that the owner recognize me. The foods are high-quality and most importantly they taste amazing. Yuugi Izakaya is a hidden gem! It is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurant you can find in downtown Toronto.
Great food and awesome service. Every dish is delicious, highly recommend the wasabi scallop, fried rice and sushi! The cocktails is great, and they have a lot of drink options to choose from. Will definitely be back!
