We have an open and collaborative approach to design, bringing together local suppliers with global companies and clients who share our commitment and ambition to design things better. We believe that good design should enhance people’s lives and work in harmony with the natural environment, however there are many ethical and environmental challenges that need to be addressed. This is one of our responsibilities as designers, which we see as an opportunity to be more creative. It is often easy to focus on the day a project completes or opens to the public, the finished article that looks shiny and new. But the key to good design is what happens afterwards. How do your customers feel? How do your colleagues find their working environment? How do the materials stand up to the rigours of daily use? Our clients are forward thinking, understanding that by investing in high quality materials from reliable sources, by respecting the identity and history of existing buildings and locations, we can create spaces that remain relevant for years to come. Designing with this approach means that if and when the time comes for a change, the materials can be re-used, re-appropriated or upcycled. This way of working is what excites us the most but it also happens to be the best scenario environmentally, socially and ultimately financially.
