Historical building, still used as a church for mass, surounded by part of its ancient defensive towers. A view shops and cafes also provide interesting goods and drinks/food. Tournus tourist office is also located opposite the abbey giving good information about the local region. Public toilets were closed due to Convid 19. Parking the car should be done outside the Abbey grounds. The SNCF railway station is but a short walk away.

One of the most amazing churches I have been to, and I have been to hundreds or thousands of them. Beautifully restored, but not too much changed from its original state. Wonderful natural light. Not too crowded. Amazing architecture. Interesting, beautiful town that is not too touristy (at least in January, when I visited). Great, inexpensive lunch at the restaurant just outside (to the south of) the main entrance. If you like old buildings or Romanesque architecture, you should not miss Tournus.

It is really a place of pray specially with its wonderful acoustic system and unique organ it is a strong monument that inspires the strong belief of the people who lived at that time and of whom we should be proud.

Beautiful abbey of some significance giving an insight into what Cluny may have been. Modern stained glass windows compliment the soaring architecture of the nave. Mosaics in the ambulatory, a magnificent crypt and the adjacent St. Michel Chapel all add to a great visit.

It's a wonderful Romanesque exterior but nothing prepares you for the innovative and breathtaking brilliance of the 11th century architect in the light-drenched interior!
