A truly spectacular place. You can't beat the location. Simple and old facilities, but functional and authentic. We had our own bedroom, kitchen and a small lounge, but shared a bathroom with the other bedrooms in the house. Very friendly staff and great food.

I would recommend people to visit visit Tranøy Fyr both if you're a local or visiting as a tourist. You can rent a room here and get the full experience. It's probably more fun to stay here if there's stormy weather, but it's beautiful either way. Enjoy!

A 250 meter walkway takes us to Tranøy lighthouse located in Hamarøy municipality. The lighthouse was built in 1864 and is today automated and in full operation. At Tranøy Lighthouse we can either just BE, or we can take a guided tour in the lighthouse. We can fish from the rocks at the lighthouse, jump into the sea, watch the birds, take a picture of the laundry with the Lofoten mountainwall in the background, take a walk or ride a bike in this powerful nature. A visit to a lighthouse is like sitting in the royal box in a theatre; one has by far the best view. The repertoire at Tranøy Lighthouse spans everything from the light summer play of lazy waves and sunwise breeze to wintry melodrama with storm and tempest. The backdrop could not be more theatrical, but the service is impeccable.
