Michael's place has been a huge blessing to my son and I after our tragic loss. They have helped me navigate through our grief. The love and support we have received from participants and volunteers has impacted our lives greatly. Thank you to all of the helpful hands that have made Michael's place amazing!

Excellent grief support, with empathetic group guides. The only fault is an increasing reliance on professionals who have not personally experienced grief, and the pushing out of experienced guides who were liked far better by attendees. This is particularly a problem in women's groups, which often have 2 counseling students, 1 student facilitator and 1 facilitator, i.e. 4 professionals for one group. This sort of imbalance is, in fact, unprofessional and creates barriers to effective counseling. If professional facilitators must be used, then only 1 per group (and maybe, sometimes, 1 student), please. In addition it is imperative that the facilitator has suffered a serious personal loss. Currently these minimum requirements are not followed. Fortunately, the men's group and college group have as yet been unaffected, for the most part, by this new drive to \professionalize\ the outfit. I can testify from personal experience that these groups function well to help attendees with their losses. But the reforms to the women's group merit serious concern and have already caused some attendees to cease their association with the establishment.
