Great, pretty trail! Muddy when the snow was melting. Loved how someone decorated the tree in the woods

One of my favorite trails in CVNP. If you start it the right way, you’ll get a surprise ending by walking through the amazingly tall pine trees that cover you like a canopy, and it feels like you’re walking through a tunnel. Stunning lake views, and picnic shelter available. Long loop trail (I think 4 miles in total), a little bit of rough terrain, don’t go when it’s muddy or in extreme heat.
This is a lovely trail, almost 3 miles long, through hardwood and pine forest. The scenery is engaging and the conditions are moderate, making this a great option for a family hike. Be aware it can be almost impassibly muddy after snow or rain; other than that, it is a very pleadany walk in the park.
Knee high grass on the trail. Wear long pants and prepare for ticks. Ankle deep mud should be expected too. CVNP has not kept up with maintaining the trail. The picnic area and pond are in great shape though.
First time here and was a great hike.of course it was muddy but who cares! To the \Karens\ who complain about the muddy conditions go take your hikes at the mall.
