Almay Ranch is such a special place that after visiting it for the first time we didn't even wait a week to book it again. There is so much to do if you want to be active, and so many peaceful places to relax if you are not. To have your own lake, golf course, mini golf course, game room, hikes, nature watching, and so much more steps from your front door was amazing. Our grouped had 4 days and that wasn't even enough time to enjoy everything the Ranch has to offer. What makes the stay even better is how great Lora and Marco handle the entire process from booking to the stay itself. We cannot wait to go back and also make it a tradition for our group of friends for years ahead!

When looking for a private getaway in the mountains, we came across the ad for Almay Ranch. Our inquiry was for an opening through this year's end. The ranch was fully booked until next year - August, 2021. Consideration of a trip next August was not possible for us, as my wife has ALS. When I sent an inquiry about filling a possible cancellation, we received a note from Lora telling us that, while cancellations are rare, she did have one due a medical issue in the other family who had rented the ranch for the month of October. We worked closely with Lora to create a bucket-list trip for my wife, her infusion team, and a few other friends. The week was spectacular. From the beautiful fall color leafed trees, to the lake, activities including golfing, mountain bike riding, hiking, watching the turtles in the lake, sitting on the deck with perfect weather, and relaxing in the comfortable ranch home, we really had a fabulous week. Marco and Lora, host and hostess, were friendly, available when needed, and very accommodating to our ADA needs, including installing two wheelchair ramps for easy access to the house and the master bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked; the house comfortable; the property a gem - a beauty in the Alps!
I just organized a college friends' reunion at Almay Ranch. It is wonderful, just a great place, extremely well-managed, perfect for a group gathering for young and old folks. There's tons of things to do for young and old folks: the private 9-hole golf course; two barns with foosball, table tennis, and pool table; swimming holes; and the list goes on. It is a bit of a drive from anywhere, but once you get there, you'll be happy you made the trip. Oh, they allow well-behaved pets and have a reasonable pet policy!
Spending 4 days here with nine other people we had just met was sheer pleasure! It was the perfect place to get away from the hectic life of Silicon Valley and forge new friendships. The bedrooms, living area, and bathrooms were tastefully furnished and everything and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well maintained and very well equipped to turn out some delicious meals. Our favorite gathering place in the evenings for drinks/dinners/conversations/laughter was on the large deck overlooking the pond, with the alpine mountains in the backdrop. Stunning views and an absolute blissful experience! We spent our time and energy on any of the numerous activities - hiking, biking, golfing, croquet, and many more than we had time for. I must mention my special thanks to Lora, our hostess/Property Manager, who was so kind and thoughtful to mail my phone charger that I had left behind. We would highly recommend a stay at Almay Ranch.
This place is paradise. Beautiful ranch house. Tons of activities, pool, badminton, darts, ping pong, miniature golf, golf course, canoeing, paddleboats, horseshoes and more. The grounds are breathtaking. Many creeks, walking trails, gazebo, etc. The house is completely outfitted with everything. Would go again in a heartbeat..
I have been to Almay Ranch twice. I highly recommend it. Service was great; location, idyllic. Hundred of miles to go hiking and relax.
I've been fighting cancer for the last few years and I wanted a place to bring the whole family to spend some time as well as build lasting memories. Almay Ranch turned out to be the perfect place! The kids played at the lake most of the day but there were countless activist like golfing, hiking, biking, vollyball, mini golf, games and my personal favorite, roasting marshmallows around a huge fire pit near the river. The location is a little remote (which was is what I wanted) with an 1.5 hr drive from Redding airport but the drive there was very scenic, passing Lake Shasta, so it went by fast and our navigation via Google maps took us right to the ranch without a hitch. Thank you Lora and Marco from the whole family ;)
This was the most awesome place for our family reunion. It was one of our best vacations ever! Kids from 5 years old to grandparents over 70. The house is amazing, so much room and very clean, the kitchen was well stocked with all the little extras that you might need. What to say about the views? Breathtaking every day and so quiet and peaceful until family game playing starts on the lanai - then you laugh, have fun and can be as noisy as you want....you won't disturb anyone. Nights were great, sitting around the fire pit and everyone eating s'mores, yum. Some went on long hikes, swam, some golfed, everyone mini golfed and we all went to the Gazebo for a hot dog picnic and swim. There were so many little creeks all over the property that you could just stop at for a quick dip. What a treat. The children absolutely loved being able to just jump in the kayaks or paddleboat and go for a spin around the lake whenever they wanted...we could keep an eye on them from the lanai. It was perfect. The property managers? Marco and Lori quickly became our new best friends, they absolutely catered to us and went out of their way to make our stay at Almay so much more than we expected. They were knowledgeable about the area, so helpful with everything, and so much fun. We thank them for making our stay so perfect. We are trying to work out dates for next summer because...once was definitely not enough, Watch out Lora and Marco...our family will be back, hopefully again and again because this was the perfect vacation spot for all of us. Mahalo to da max!
