Tromsø Forsvarsmuseum is a local military museum with a lot of history to offer. It has a wide variety of WW2 memorabilia, each with a history of their own. The owners of this museum are also filled with knowledge about the war and the items within the museum, so go ahead and ask tons of questions! Though I must warn you, since I myself am Norwegian, haven't checked how well they speak English.

Good place to visit for anyone interested in WW2 in Norway. Payment for museum was with cash only so you'll need local currency.

Norse Man

Opening hours listed on the web are incorrect and the place was closed when we came for a visit. By the look of it there is very limited parking spots and the place look like in a disarray. Overgrown with grass and scrubs. Hardly a place you would expect to accept visitors.

Especially the Tirpitz part is very rich in artefacts and nicely done. The Defense museum consists mostly of photographs and articles from the newspapers, with a few artefacts.

Ett viktig museum å ha som burde fått mer i offentlig støtte til å renovere og ta vare på anlegget. Mye historie i selve museet, men også mye historie i området rundt. Anbefaler alle å ta en tur innom. Betaling i kontant eller vipps. 2019: 75 for voksen og 25 for barn.
