Serenity is the word that most comes to mind when thinking about Lake Norman. I hiked around the lake today (just over 5 miles), and went for what felt like entire mile-long stretches without seeing anyone. For these long stretches of time, all I heard were birdcalls, the sounds of small animals scurrying in the brush, the breeze moving through the leaves, and my own footsteps. When I did see another person, it was like we had an unspoken, mutual understanding about the calm nature of this place, and let the few words between us stand as a promise not to disrupt its quiet.

I like this place. Good for family picnic and it has so many trails to explore. Although the picnic swim area was closed due to coronavirus but still there are so many option to go and enjoy. There is a trail which go along with lake shore and it has so many hidden places where one can enjoy playing in water. Only drawback is restrooms were closed due to coronavirus.

My hubby and I visited this beautiful state park on Sunday. The trails walking and riding are breathtaking. We took a Sunset bike ride on the lake loop trail. It was absolutely amazing. The sun setting through the trees, with all the changing leaf colors. It was perfect. The trail was about 2.5 miles, and just the right balance of uphill and downhill for the beginner or more advanced bicyclist. After our bike ride, we walked down to the pier that had 4 or 5 little sections off on the lake... for the fishing enthusiast or just to watch the sunset and moon rise over the lake. I think my favorite part were the wooden beams placed as steps or a viewing gallery as I used them. We sat and enjoyed the wonderful serene calm awe-inspiring views of the sunset and glow of the moonlight on the water. A perfect Sunday evening with my perfect company. This park and the adventures keep getting better with each visit, and I love that it's child and pet friendly and even Respectful of the suggested social distancing standards by the fellow visitors. Great place, definitely recommend!!

Lake Norman is beautiful. We camp here a few times a year. Love that it's so we'll maintained and clean.

Changes at the park are underway. A new camping area is under construction there. New look. New camping spaces. New cabins. There are a number of multi-use trails, a pretty extensive bike trail system (30 mi.) from easy to difficult. We walked the Alder Trail (easy & short, under 1 mi.), enjoyed the walk by the lake through the autumn leaves, spent a moment at the small dam. It was soothing to be amongst the trees, birds and squirrels. Quiet.
