I was attracted by the beautiful pictures of the falls and went out today Apr 3 to see them for myself, but the roads to the falls were closed at least 30KM prior to getting there. Roads are closed from Dec to the following mid May to allow for the natural fauna to get sufficient nourishment right after winter when it’s still hard for them. Will visit again in summer. For everyone who posts beautiful pictures of the places please also mention to save visitors the trouble visiting when the attraction is closed.

A only 45-60 minutes from Calgary, this is a beautiful little get away, morning, afternoon, or all day. It does get busy by lunch and afternoon though so plan accordingly. There are picnic areas, some flat rocks you can sunbathe on, and several parts of the falls and river you can explore.
Gorgeous place to visit! The falls themselves were quite a busy area with tons of people (which wasn't the best as some people wouldn't stay six feet apart from us), but if you go to the end of the road there is a quiet little area beside the river that's really nice! We are so thankful that there are such gorgeous areas to travel too even during the pandemic and it was a lot of fun to be able to get out into nature! I've been working the whole summer so it was a quaint little stop on our way out to Banff. Highly recommended seeing the beautiful sheep river falls!
What a beautiful drive from calgary to Sheep River Falls! Great family day trip-nature adventure! We like it to much we’ve been 3 times this year already! Summer/Fall and winter! Highly recommend this to anyone who likes easy hike and just nature sightseeing!!!
Another nice little falls in easy walking distance for kids. Looks like a mini Elbow Falls, but with easy access to the basin, this turns great place for kids.
OUR favourite falls to see when in Alberta. Visited them about 3 times now. Just gorgeous, totally worth the visit no matter the season. The water is so crisp cold & fresh. Pictures just don’t do this place justice!
Beautiful easy walk to falls. Went on weekend and was very busy. Parking lot was full. Sadly disposable masks littered along trail and picnic area.
Beautiful place, quite popular too. The walk to the falls is very short and there's a little crossing over a small stretch of river along logs and a worn and somewhat wobbly wooden board which is a bit tricky, so be careful there. My wife crossed it with our 3 month old in a carrier with a little bit of help. The falls are very nice and the view is gorgeous. There are quite a few picnic tables around the area as well, so pack a lunch or snacks. We really enjoyed this little outing!
