I really enjoyed my tour. The guide was well informed and took the time to get to everyone’s questions. If you live near or around the plant, it’s worth going on the tour. Everyone from Calgary looking for a fun day trip... this is it. Lost a star due to the visitor Center not having much in the way of artifacts. Most of the buildings are shuttered up so it would have been interesting to have more of the stuff they used in the plants on display. HINT: see the original spot where the oil rig at heritage park used to stand (or a reproduction of it is at the park )
Wow ... the old oil and gas plant is awesomely dystopian, especially with the big herd of deer ambling through eating the tall grass. Such a place of history in Alberta, the start of the oil and gas business!
Nice history place abou the oil field
Very historic part of Alberta with very good interpretive centre. All Albertans should try ti visit Turner Valley to learn about the origins and foundation of our resources industry. Plant has been decommissioned but still a producing gas field.
Being the first commercial gas plant in Alberta, it is a historic site of great importance. It is also a good place to learn how gas is sweetened.
The guided tour is about an hour long and is quite interesting. At the end of the tour you actually come to a region where natural gas is still bubbling from the ground.
An Alberta heritage site that is just starting to open up the tours are good and informative.
