A charming, gothic place with a serene garden. I only went there to see my friend's Costume School exhibition which made me feel like I travelled in time.

Amazing visit! The place is incredible but the volunteers that explained the stories behind every door were even better!

Our visit to Strawberry Hill House was Covid safe, allowing us to have, what amounted to, a private view of the house. The Room Stewards were extremely knowledgeable and personable, which made the visit all the more enjoyable and enlightened. Thoroughly recommend a visit. You really need to book in advance, but I think they can normally fit you in if you turn up and are willing to wait a short time.

I've never seen a wall like this anywhere else. It has some arches at the bottom of the wall! Wondered if it provided any security at all! (There is another wall around the whole property though) Loved the chimneys! Reminded me of the Hampton Court palace! Here they are white! We only did the guided garden tour. Didn't see anything extra other than what we had already seen on our own before the walk. But, learnt a lot about the history of the house and the people attached to the house by joining the walk.

I went to Strawberry Hill having read a lot about the castle and Horace Walpole, and I was so excited to finally see it, and was in no way disappointed! The volunteers were unbelievably passionate, knowledgeable and attentive, I couldn't rate them higher. Definitely going back for one of their Halloween tours! I had the best time and have left even more enthusiastic for Walpole and Strawberry Hill than I was before. Thank you to the wonderful team, you are all wonderful.

Predating the Gothic Revival, here the meagre residual fabric of Walpole’s unbridled pursuit of a most peculiar vision. What remains; mostly ceiling and wall decor appropriately idiosyncratic and flamboyant. A stroll through the informal gardens and well-maintained ‘woodland’ idyll and the veteran trees is a worthwhile. The inquisitive garden fox gets equal billing.

Home of the Gothic Novel, built by Horace Walpole and his country residence for many years. Really knowledgeable and friendly volunteer docents made it exceptionally enjoyable. The house is being and has been very lovingly restored and is absolutely amazing and unique.

What an extraordinary house! I have lived in London for a decade and somehow never knew about this place... the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, I got swept up in their atmosphere and had a great time.
