I went to a city council meeting a few weeks ago just to see what it was like for an ordinary citizen. I was very impressed. The council members asked various presenters pertinent questions and explored different possibilities for the issues brought forward. All voting was unanimous, which gave me pause, and I wondered what was going on to make that the case. Anyway, from what I could see, everyone seemed knowledgeable and capable. The council members asked follow up questions for things they weren't experts on, such as road construction. I liked that they weren't afraid to ask questions and that they understood enough of the economy and the city that the probing questions asked were pertinent to a final decision. All in all, I'm glad I went.
