A.D 1862. Founded by donation of the Duke of Buccleugh, Mrs Gasgarth and Colonel Montague of London. Archival and church chronicles say that before 1577 there was a chapel in this place. Consecration of the St. Luke's church was done by the Bishop of Carlisle, Harvey Goodwin, on Monday, 1th of June 1885. Since 1856 Lowick became an independent parish. Then in 1940 Blawith and Lowick have been established as a common parish. St. Luke’s capacity is 260 seats. There is a monument in church graveyard commemorate soldiers died in WW I. They were Lowick and Blawith inhabitants. Both villages have peaceful and idyllic agricultural surroundings. I visited St. Luke’s in July 2020.
