Excellent place enjoyed it so much we join ed the English heritage! Full our ghide have real insight into why bobbin are such an important part of our lives. Support them as this is the last one in the UK due to China etc...

What a great find! Really good tour with lots of information, good children's trail that our youngest child enjoyed and, even though it rained throughout, we had a great visit. Bit disappointing to have to pay for the car park too though when you're paying to get in!

Stott Park Mill is the only remaining bobbin mill in the Lake District - it is managed by English Heritage. We enjoyed the interesting tour in particular the demonstration of how bobbins were made. They run the steam engine once a month so it's best to visit on these days f you can. There is a small shop which sells souvenirs and drinks but there is no cafe. There is a cafe close by at Lakeside.

Second stop today is the Stott Park Bobbin Mill. This is an absolute jem and full of intriguing and interesting exhibits. Built in 1835 to supply The Lancashire Cotton Mills with Bobbins for the weaving and spinning machinery. We've never really visited anything like this before. English Heritage staff always very helpful and informative. Definitely different to anything else they've got in their inventory. I can honestly say we've learned a lot today and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Looked after by English heritage. Was just driving by . Glad we stopped. Took a guided tour of this Victorian factory. Guide was brilliant worth joining fee alone. Made me realised how lucky we are now with our working rights inn the UK. Go out of your way and visit this one it special.

A very interesting place to visit and should be kept on for future generations to see how tough life really was in the old days. People worked there for 14hours a day for 6 days a week and some were boys as young as 12 too. Young people think they're hard done by if they haven't got a skateboard or a mobile phone today. The strange thing is that despite the tough conditions then and the harsh and very isolated environment they lived in many people lived to a ripe old age. Also strange to be washing your hands numerous times here when people were so poor in days gone by and lived. But despite having to follow the covid restrictions rules it was still very accessible to people visiting. A very good visit and more education from the English Heritage.

Very interesting, well worth a visit. I learnt several surprising things, for example that bobbin-making was a major Lakeland industry. The guide was extremely well informed and a good communicator, and her practical demonstration was excellent.

This hidden gem turned out to be really interesting, a window on the past. Great for children. It really added to our Lake District well rounded experience.
