Fine old inn, with great period features, and a cosy atmosphere. Accommodation is is dated, but functional. Food is excellent. All in all great value.

The is a well priced hotel! It's one of the oldest pubs in the lakes and has quaint feel about it. Breakfast is extensive with good portions!
Stayed here following a days mountain biking in the lakes. The room was smallish but perfectly clean and suitable. Room had coffee and tea making facilities and a small sink and the use of a shared bath/ shower/ toilet room.... very good value and perfectly comfortable bed. The pub itself was very nice, typical lake district, loads of character. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was delicious..steak and mushroom pie superb... my friends also raved about the Thia chicken green curry... great visit and would recommend..
What a great find! This is a rustic pub with absolutely great pub food (giant portion alert) - very tasty and well cooked. There's a couple of veggie options on there. Staff are hugely welcoming and friendly. Good drinks selection as well. Highly recommended.
Arrived for lunch on a bank holiday Monday but they hadn't opened yet but still the landlady invited us in for a coffee until they did. She also offered traffic advice which saved us 30 minutes at least we left. The service was excellent and the food good at a reasonable price. Lovely staff and doggie friendly makes this an excellent choice if you are looking for a meal. We will be calling again next time we pass.
I live in Millom and am not really a pub goer anymore but The Farmers is the nearest thing I have that I could call my local. It is a special and quirky establishment and is best reviewed when visiting as a B & B guest when you can really absorb the conviviality. The variety of creaky modern but old bedrooms down uneven creaky corridors are special. The food on offer, always a delight and good value. Then there's the public house side of things good ales and on a winter's night when the log fire is roaring there is nowhere more evocative of times gone by than The Farmers. A brilliant landlady and staff as well and dog friendly.
We stopped in for food on our way home and we were served a burger that was so big it could have ended us! Value for money is incredible there and the food itself was delicious. We got talking to the lady who owns the place and she's really lovely, we'll definitely be popping in again whenever we're next in the area!
Absolutely great food. The landlady is exceptionally welcoming and extremely customer conscious. It's a lovely old pub with great food. Definitely a favourite of ours.
