This is one of the best small town museums I have ever been in. Free....but leave a donation if you can. The history of Ulysses is a bit strange with the moving of the town in the early 1900s. My great grandfather was there in the beginning and I was able to donate many early documents and letters. If you are in Ulysses try to stop by.

Amazing! Too good to be free!
Historic Adobe Museum--Ulysses, KS See history from 1909-2019 From Prairie, 5 Flags, Mexican-Spanish, Dirty 30's, Oil/Gas, Changes not to forget! 6 generations of Grant County. Displays you don't want to miss.
Ginger Anthony is the county historian and she maintains the museum. She has exhibits that are fun and interesting of our county. Like the mammoth bones that were found. Or the piece of the old hotel it's only a quarter of the hotel but so much history in it. One of the one room school houses is there and the second graders used to go there once a year for a day of school. Through out the summer- usually from June through October- Saturday mornings are set aside for the farmers market. Any one can set up there and sell produce, live plants, homemade foods, art, or any various items. Also during the summer if Bike Across Kansas comes through a special station is set up for that time. The fall brings the auction. Christmas brings several weekends of fun such as a day of singers- local talent, horse drawn wagon rides, Santa, a night of wine tasting, and so much more. Our museum is more than old stuff staged in a building. It is also making things happen now.
Have always loved this place! For a small town they do a great job of keeping the museum nice and informative, and fun for older kids
