Loved it. 3 months due to ship repairs '95 Vending machines that sold hot cups of noodles, metal cans of hot coffee 1950s style bicycles on base for people to travel from building to building, dry docks from the 1800s. Exploring tokyo. So wonderfully different.

Pizza and wings are good when it’s fresh however on multiple times I have received hardened pizza and dry wings because they chose to make a sale then discard the food. They need to use a timer like multiple pizza chains or at least time it when it’s the most busiest to put out food.
Of all the military bases I've seen, aside from Coronado, this is one of the nicest. They have a very nice NEX stocked with comfort items but also some local fare, the food court is great an has a nice buffet, the gym is nice, and the location itself is very walkable with running trails and a very active walking entrance gate.
Stationed there from 2002 - 2005 onboard USS Gary. The club on base was packed on thursdays (salsa night) with the best rum and coke. Great japanese neighbors. The \Hon cho\ area was great but off limits at times...Tokyo is awesome...many things to do in Japan...the cuisine is out of rhis world...miss Japan so much...
Visited Family stationed there. Filled out paperwork ahead of time to stay on base and showed ID each time went in. Lots of kids playgrounds. Nice people. Cool ships. Great Launching point for Tokyo and Kyoto.
