Addition provides some great new lecture rooms. The old part is a typical blast from the past. Lots of research being performed in this building. Best program in the nation starts here!

We have the best AC here. You could wear Canada goose here in all seasons. What more would you expect?

Yeh Center has a freaking freezing AC system designed for penguins and polar bears. Despite its LEED certification, I think its indoor environment, considering AC temperature settings and ventilation being too strong and noisy, is not very user-friendly. By studying here for 2 years, my skin fur grows by 30% in length; my eardrum grows 20% in thickness. Another thing to mention about is there are increasing amount of cockroaches appearing in the east Newmark stair shaft. I sometimes idle my afternoon standing there watching these creatures learn to go up and down stairs, in order to save the lunch budgets for the next three days. But anyway, this is still my third favorite place to enjoy my nightlife (Grainger#1 Siebel#2). I still remember the 2016 New Years Eve, it was a chilly and rainy night. I was sitting in front of one of the three EWS on the second floor, alone but not lonely, teaching myself how to use Autodesk Revit with another screen playing a banal comedy show, until the rain became lighter and I started to hear the sound of the micro-deformation in the steel structure framing, thinking about the fracture of shear plates and local buckling stuffs. Suddenly I felt so lonely in this 15k m2 building, and I felt so far from the idealism utopian world that no one will suffer from starvation or war. Yet Newmark has been standing here half a century, serving generations and generations of people that are intentionally or coincidentally making the world a better place. I also appreciate that I met so many interesting people and helpful mentors and most importantly a beautiful soul here. I would like to be buried down in that lawn in front of the Yeh Center when I die. Thank you for watching my gibberish.

Despite its old age the crane bay is still the jewel of civil engineering research!
