First time going here. Open ice skating was from 130 to 3 for the session we went to. You have to sign up and pay in advance. 10 for adults and 8 for kids. Includes skates. They had all sizes available including smaller kid sizes. The ice was smooth. They had devices for the kids to use to assist them in learning how to be on ice skates. Wasn't too crowded. Everyone had a good time and I would recommend this place for some good fun. Dress warm.

Visited recently for public skate with a friend. When ordering our tickets online, I accidentally ordered twice. Once we arrived, the staff member checking us in recognized the error immediately, and I received a partial refund for the double order within a few days. Kudos to Metro Ice for understanding and remedying my error. Plus, we had a great time skating!

Played an end of the season hockey game so the ice was a little rough. Fantastic group of regulars and staff that are quick to strike up conversation even when on opposing teams. The beginners were encouraged without being forced and provided ample opportunities to improve their skills. I've always been of the mindset that on the ice, we're all friends and that's the feeling I instantly had skating here.

The dressing rooms are microscopic, there's no hot water for the showers and the ice is terrible, no matter what the exterior temperature. But it's one of the very few rinks in the Des Moines area (for now) and they're trying to make improvements. They've worked hard to keep it safe during the pandemic. I hope I can revise this rating upwards in the future.

Love the rinks here, we occasionally get together with some friends and rent the rink and play some hockey. Great people to work with and nice amenities.
