In 1996 and under the supervision of Professor Hadidi, the Microelectronics Research Team has been established in Urmia University. The team started its objective with the help of few workstation computers and professional design software in a building at the city campus of the university in Beheshti Avenue. In 2000, under the authorization of Science, Research and Technology Ministry of Iran, the opening of Microelectronics Research Laboratory (MRL) has been announced and three years later in 2003, with the agreement of Urmia University, along with the constitution of the organization department the following research groups have been founded: 1- Analog Integrated Circuit Research Team 2- Digital Integrated Circuit Research Team 3- Fuzzy Integrated Circuit Research Team 4- Micro Machine Research Team The main objective of the institute is to teach and prepare design experts for industrial purposes along with the technology development in the criteria of establishing efficient methods for the revenue increment of the Urmia University. As the founders of the institute believe, a modern university must walk in a way such that the technology development can be aligned with the scientific improvements.
