My mother is in ICU at the moment and it is a tough situation for the whole family as we cannot be there to support her. However, the nursing staff at the Harefield hospital is AMAZING! Even though I cannot be there to look after my mother, I can say for, confidently, that she is being taken care of by the nurses. They are very caring, compassionate, competent, committed and excellent at communication. Even though they are so busy looking after the patients, they take out time to update me whenever I call ( which is a good few times a day) and also arrange a daily video call for me to see my mum. While on the video call, I see them taking care of my mother, as I would, and also placing their hands on my mum's forehead to comfort her as I would do. I want to thank all the nursing staff who are working day in day out to support and look after the patients. I want to mention all the names, but unfortunately, I only remember a few names and I do not know if it will be appropriate to just mention a few names that I remember. BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your hard work. You all are amazing!

Such a nice hospital with respectful staff and nurses and doctors, they are well mannered and deserves the appreciation in what they do as their job role.

Care in Cedar ward was very good but when my mother was moved to HDU because they said she needed a higher flow of oxygen she was not impressed with the care she received. Unfortunately, we didn't get to find out why she thought the care was poor as she passed away. She was informed she was unlikely to make it through the night and was asked to sign a DNR after attending what she believed to be a fairly routine procedure. The staff informed my mum she was going to die when she was on her own and we only found this out when my mum informed them she could not make that decision and they would have to speak to her family. When we questioned the hospital why they had done this we were informed the patient has the right to know. Informing a sick 74 year old woman who was on her own she is going to die and asking her to sign a DNR, when she didn't realise she was that unwell, is cruel. Even though my mum was at the end of her life, she spent the next 5 days and nights without her family by her side. She was frightened and alone and all she wanted was her family. We were allowed in after begging to see her on the evening after they informed her she wouldn't make it through the night and on the actual night she died. My mum had called to say she was going and asked us to come to the hospital but we were left hanging around outside until they eventually came down and let us in. My mum had been calling while we were outside trying to get in, asking where we were and was extremely upset. Had my mum not been able to call, I doubt we would have heard anything from the hospital informing us she was going to die and she would have died without her family with her which was against her wishes.

I had a Bi-Lobectomy at Harefield hospital July 2nd 2020. Although a terrifying time i was made to feel very relaxed by all the incredible attentive and caring staff. Everthing was done very professionally and in good order. After the operation I was in Cedar 2 ward. The only downside was the occasional beeping of some of the monitors but other than that a peaceful and relaxing ward with lovely views of trees and the grounds. All the Nurses in the ward were very Friendly and nothing was a problem. The ward, shower and toilet areas were all immaculately clean. Even iss who did the catering/cleaning had wonderful staff who cheerfully cleaned and took orders for meals and drinks and delivered them. The food all in all was excellent! If you are having an operation at Harefield don't worry you are in VERY good hands.
