Passive Mover is rated 3 out of 5 in the category medical devices in Denmark. “I marvel that society would pay a surgeon a large sum of money to remove a patient’s leg… but nothing to save it.” Removing the lower part of a patients leg is a costly affair. In fact diabetic foot disease is the leading cause of non-traumatic lower limb amputations in the world and every 3rd patient is experiencing complications afterwards. That is what we will change at Passive Mover Ulcers might begin as something minor, such as a wart or a blister, and would normally heal. But it might be the first step towards a leg amputation. When suffering from a foot ulcer a patient generally spend 13 days more hospitalized than those without. Patients are normally treated with diets and medication. But with an ulcer it’s impossible to get your daily exercise or take part in social relations. Over time a patient is isolated in their own home and have to rely on help from others. We offer a solution that can give the same positive results as active exercise. Passive Mover is newly discovered mechanical solution where the patient isn’t forced to take new medicine but only follow a personal schedule. The method is developed and tested by scientists from Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports at University of Copenhagen.
