DO NOT USE AVIS Worst car rental company I have ever used. Over charged us when we picked up the car and promised the return of our money. 6 months later I'm still trying to get my money back even tho I have shown my original quote to them on multiple occasions. I would highly recommend not using avis ever as they will try screw you over anywhere they get the chance. Absolute disgrace of a company. Staff couldn't help when we went in in person, was on the phone for hours just being moved around departments. Absolutely useless staff that do nothing but waste your time. Do yourself a favour and use any other car rental company. DO NOT USE AVIS

Here’s the deal with this Avis location. We got this from the inside source. And by inside source, I mean pestering the company. A lot of the reviews of this location are correct, but they may be misleading. The staff is actually very nice, they hustle, they communicate well, and they’re quite helpful. We stopped by in person the day before to talk to the manager and he gave us advice to ensure we get our rental on time. This problem: this Avis is ground zero for cruise ship passengers. They get floods of tourists coming in on cruise ship days and it takes a while to process them. All rentals are processed for a particular hour before processing the next hour. So all 9:00am rentals are processed first, even if it takes an hour or more. Then they start processing the 10:00am rentals. Your best bet is to show up really early, an hour or more. Or come on a non-cruise ship day, or outside of tourist season. Also, if you try to call this Avis branch, and they’re busy, they can push a button to route you to the central customer service line. It’s almost impossible to get through to the branch during busy times. You’ll have better luck walking over and talking to them in person (like we did).
I rented with this Avis location in May and got great service from the black gentleman and the middle eastern lady. I got the car I reserved which was spotless. I rented with them again last weekend and it was a very unfortunate experience. The middle eastern gentleman was extremely rude. I asked if he could speak clearer and louder because I’m hearing-impaired and the mask and plastic screen was muffling him. This just made him roll his eyes and grow frustrated when I asked him to repeat. Next, he informed I was ‘upgraded’ and told me the sedan I reserved on their website was ‘no longer available’ so they were giving me a Toyota Sienna. I told him I was uncomfortable driving such a large car (a minivan) and asked if there were any other smaller cars available, even if I had to pay more. He told me to either take the minivan or lose my reservation with no refund (because I was ‘canceling’ the day of my reservation). As I already booked a road trip, I took it but it was a very unsafe experience as the car shook violently whenever I braked and I dont have enough driving experience to be driving such a large car. Also the car was dirty inside with chips and old food all over the floor when I received it. Save your money, headache and don’t rent here :/
Please avoid this location as possible as you can. First of all, I didn't get a car I reserved which was a standard type. I was offered to a free upgrade to a mini van, but I emphasized I was not comfortable driving bigger cars. Then I had to wait for a friend as an additional driver, I witnessed 3 or 4 people were forced to take a mini van although they reserved small cars. The car agents threatened the customers to take the mini van or leave the office. Once I went to the parking lot, I also realized they gave me a mini van. I ran to the office hoping it was still open as it was closing time. I was able to catch an agent, but his response was cancel the reservation or take it. As I had to leave the town shortly, I had no other option to take it. Then I got stuck in the parking lot in front of the parking gate bar as they forgot to give me a ticket to exit there. I called the office, but they were not supportive. As there was another customer who came behind me got stuck together, we begged the parking operator to raise the bar so we can get out of the building after 20 or 30 mins. I also found out that they were holding a deposit which I was not informed. But I understand that it is a standard rule. This was the worst car rental experience I ever had. They were unfriendly and unsupportive. Every single customer was very unhappy dealing with their mal practice. People usually make a reservation beforehand because plans are already made. Car rental should be reliable and they need to provide what they promised to offer to customers. This location needs a proper employee education with customer service or needs to be closed if they don't change. It does tarnish Avis's reputation and I will warn everyone I know to avoid this location.
