Gene is lovely and the apartment is well stocked, safe and quiet. The building is heritage and very nice.
Following a family member's surgery at VGH, we looked for comfortable accommodation as close to the hospital as we could find. We ended up at Gene Feist's lovely Heritage Home (105 yrs old!) for two months. The house has wonderful character, is very comfortable and clean, and is absolutely perfectly located (5 min walk to VGH/Diamond Centre and 10 min to stores like Safeway, London Drugs, Whole Foods, small veggie markets etc). The suite (one of four in the house) is basic but had everything we needed - fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living room, decent bathroom (large tub with shower hose), a balcony area and two twin beds. We had WiFi and Telus Optik TV. Parking is available at back of the house. The neighbourhood has plenty of great coffee shops, places to walk and feels very safe. There are Mobi bike rental kiosks nearby. The walk to the seawall is less than 15 min. Gene is a friendly, helpful host who made us feel right at home. Suffice to say that finding this gem of a place to stay made a difficult time as easy as it could be. Thanks so much to Gene for his hospitality and comfortable accommodation.
This is a great place to stay if you are an outpatient at the hospital.
