The golden tree designed by Douglas Coupland. Standing 43 feet tall, Coupland has set the sculpture in front of a 25-foot by 40-foot image of Stanley Park, which has been installed above the front entrance to Intracorp's MC2 development at Cambie Street and SE Marine Drive. Made out of steel-reinforced resin and fiberglass and encased in a gold finish, the piece took more than 6,000 hours to fabricate.

Behold this tribute to nature, a slice of a tree from a different park in one of the most unnatural hues known to man. Makes a decent landmark.
It certainly makes you stop to look.
What is the point if this tree? Absolutely the most tacky art instalment I have seen in Vancouver. I'm not sure what material it is made of but whether it's some type of plastic/polymer or organic material it's a total waste and eyesore. Surprised it hasn't had a material negative impact on real estate prices in the area but it's Vancouver after all...
The GREAT ART OF Douglas Copland a MUST VISIT!!!
