It’s small but it has what it needs. Great classes (before COVID times) and great staff! I’ve been going here for years

Just started working out at this gym two weeks ago and i love it. I was a bit nervous working out at the gym but the staff was incredibly nice and informative. I have been attending the classes included in the membership as well, and they are great too!

Edit: you know what, I had to edit my review from 2 to 4 stars. I’ve waited a few times now and the line does indeed move, if I time it well there is no line up and I can stay as long as I want. It’s not perfect but it’s better than the 1hr window at other places. I have also found substitute equipment for most of the things I need to do. It’s okay, the space is pretty small and they are lacking a lot of weight equipment that the other bigger locations have. The biggest issue is the reduction in hours. They close at 9pm on weekdays, which used to be 10pm before. They also got rid of the time slot sign up system so people can stay as long as they want but its first come first serve. Twice I’ve come here at hour before closing, once on a weekend and once during a weekday and there’s been a line up outside. I never see the line up move, so I end up leaving because I need at least 45 mins or so for a decent workout. It’s annoying. They should at least extend their hours back to what it was or even put the sign up system back. Just because the weather gets colder doesn’t mean there is any less of a need to workout so the “winter schedule” thing doesn’t make sense. I know multiple people have complained but nothing has changed so far.

After getting rid of the one hour booking slots to allow for people to work out for longer than one hour at a time, it's become impossible to be able to plan how much time I'll need to go to the gym. At first the staff said that other than during busy hours (noontime and after 5pm), there isn't a wait to get into the gym and the floor is not usually at full capacity. But I go at off-peak hours (weekdays at 2pm or 3pm) and still have to wait 15 min to an hour at times. Although before, I'd only be able to work out at the gym for only an hour when the bookings were in place initially when gyms reopened after covid lockdown, at least I'd be able to plan to be in and out of the gym in an hour. Now, I have to put aside 2 hours for a gym session in case there is a long line at the gym to get in. Also, it's difficult to find a clean locker by the time I actually get into the gym. Clearly the staff are not regularly cleaning the lockers and changing room areas. It was definitely better when there was a booking system in place and the staff were clearly expected to clean the entire facility between each one hour time slot. I feel like GoodLife at hemlock got rid of the booking system despite covid still going on just to save costs of having their staff clean the facility more regularly and also to try to recruit more members but not actually having the capacity for all of them. When complaining to staff about my concerns, I was directed to contact GoodLife via their general business email but after trying to email them, I get an automatically generated response saying the email address is not even monitored. I appreciate this location being a female only location and the equipment being fairly new. However, this has been a very negative customer service experience and I'm wanting to freeze my membership soon if they do not reimplement the booking system.

Loved working out here, it was close to home, ladies only, and had tanning. Awesome. But during the early stages of Covid the club decided to restart collection of the membership fees when they knew people were unemployed and struggling to pay their rent and feed themselves. I called the gym after noticing two payments had come out of my account unknowingly and asked why they didnt contact the members informing them of the clubs plan to do this. They said I could cancel if I wanted but missed the refund period. I pay 65 a month and quietly received a refund of 59 ( not sure how they came to this figure) I was expecting the 130 they took from me. I called head office twice and again the club asking for clarification. I was told I'd receive a call from manager but never did. To me its clear this club doesnt care about its members but only about money, a really ugly image for a place that boasts healthy and community. I would not recommend this gym, this experience has broken my trust in goodlife brand. Go elsewhere.
