It is rare to find one that is primarily fueled by passion for the final product and the hard work associated with perfectionism. The bulk of their time is spent on the final shoes - to make them perfect, and make them for you. This is the lot of an artist. It is easy to find companies fueled by profits, caffeine, and naive enthusiasm, or that wave the banner of customer communications as a substitute for product quality. Its easy to farm out your labor to a 3rd world country and spend time taking phone calls and playing foozeball and tweeting and hiring clueless interns to do the same. You won't find that here. The people are authentic. The calluses are hard-earned. The shop is beautiful. The tools are warm with use. The product is a labor of love and experience. Be patient. Your shoes will arrive, and they will take your breath away. And they will outlast your gmail account.

I've got several pairs of bespoke British shoes but to get a decent pair of hand-made shoes from Canada? Who'd of thought? Well, the fine folk at Love Jules Leather can certainly stand by their products proudly, knowing that they produce something that can stand toe-to-toe (pardon the pun) with companies with well over 100 years behind them. They offer excellent customer service and communication. For those of us not living around the corner from East Vancouver, don't fret. They will guide you through how to record an extensive list of measurements and they will send you a foam mold so they even have an imprint of your feet. That's some serious attention to detail. And should you have a question or concern, fire off an email and they'll get back to you within a day. Expensive? Depends on your budget I suppose. But let's be honest, people will gladly fork over the equivalent amount of money and more on a pair of runners churned out of a sweatshop. Why not support the local small business lovingly creating a top-shelf product? I'm looking forward to my next pair already.
Absolutely expert shoe crafters. Will be ordering again.
Customer Service: Josh and Jules are extremely friendly and easy to communicate with. Questions were answered well and e-mails/text messages were returned quickly, usually within the day. Shoes: My 808 Roper boots are beautifully crafted and fit like a glove. It is clear that Josh and Jules are skilled professionals who really take pride in their business and their work. I really love these boots. Timing: I went into their shop for a quick fitting and my boots were ready shortly after that. My wait time for the boots was as advertised and even if I had experienced any delays (which I did not), I would have been okay with it because the end product is truly terrific. I will definitely be ordering shoes from them again. Terrific shop.
I love, love my 1907A derby boots. No regrets! Get compliments and curiosity often. Finely handcrafted with care and attention to style, proportion, materials. been wearing them almost every day since I received them: they're breaking in beautifully and comfortably. Jules and josh are super kind, responsive and obviously conscientious about what they do. At the time of ordering, they provided an estimate of delivery time (which was accurate) and kept in touch with updates in the meantime. Check out their website and visit the studio if you have an opportunity. It's great to wear something that one feels good about, both in the object itself and in being able to support local, engaged makers.
