This place is very spacious and feel safe with distance between others. Fancy interior and sake decorations is pretty good idea. But the rolls are bit thick with much of rice. Maybe I need to ask to chef next time “less rice” Salmon maki was little but fishy. Me and my son have been here several times after school pick up. There are not so much rush and quiet. Mostly food was fine but the staffs are not really friendly. Maybe not sure with mask.

Delicious rolls. They are offering orders to go but also have a nice little outdoor seating area in the parking lot. We ordered the BSCR, Hot Night, Baby Lobster, Dragon roll and Shrimp Crunch roll. All were amazing! Once things have settled with COVID we will be back for dine-in experience.
Our first time here...it had tables a good distance apart and good service. The food was fresh, tasty and in good size portions. The only complaints are that the menu didn’t have combo sets and more entree choices; there were no descriptions for what was in the rolls; and, overall, it was too pricy. The saving grace was, for spending 50 minimum, we got a free Kerrisdale roll (which we had to ask for).
Kerrisdale Roll is surprisingly good, and their Oyakodon is also very delicious.
[ 4 Stars Quality -1 star for prices ] They're done renovating and open for dining and takeout. I stopped by Shota for the first time on 8/29/20. At 5:30pm the place was fairly empty but filled up fast - it's quite popular. Several customers were turned away while I was dining and lots of takeout being ordered. If you plan on dining in make a reservation or come early! To order your food they provid a paper menu (see photos) and a pencil to mark your items. The sashimi is fresh, high quality! I was in pure bliss after eating the tuna(?) on the salad and the Chef's special UNI IKURA!! Relatively speaking, the prices seemed high (though, I'm willing to shell out that 4.50 for the uni ikura, it was that good), especially for the Kerrisdale roll and salad; might as well hit Asa a block down for more at a similar quality. This review is based off a small selection though, I'm sure there might be some other hidden deliciousness in the menu.
It’s my first time here. Got free kerrisdale roll with was nice offer. I ordered Sashimi it was fresh and tasty. Friendly staff he tried so hard to helped us to choose good menus :) They take covid measures seriously so it's quite reassuring.
Owner is Chinese but meals taste close to authentic. Nice and clean atmosphere. Washroom is also clean and spacious. They serve red tuna roll which a few Japanese restaurants have it. Try dine here if you visit in Kerrisdale.
We thought give a try this new restaurant here in the Kerrisdale. We love take out. My first impression, the restaurant is nice but I’m not a fan of the service. We were hoping that at least the food would be good. We didn’t even finished all of our food. It was not good quality at all, pretty mediocre and lots of better options for Sushi in the area. For us, not going back again.
