Came in tonight for a birthday celebration. 15 in our group. A variety of tasty dishes and appetizers ordered. There was good and not so good. Let's start with the good. The food was good. The spice and flavour is spot-on. I had a caesar -which was nothing special but good. But then I selected my very first shot at the jambalaya (is that how you spell it?) It was real good. Spicy and flavourful. Really delightful. It was accompanied by a piece of their corn bread. I don't "do" cornbread (or pork - which was in the jambalaya) but tonight I did. It was the best cornbread I've ever tasted. The prices are reasonable. My bill (with tip) was 25. I don't drink so i save myself some cash which goes straight into my tuition (ugh). So the not-so-awesome... The tables are gross. Sticky. The menus are in need of replacing due to being so dirty. The bathroom stalls are designed for... community-building? I mean if you stand you can see into the stall beside you as the walls are so short. Was this intentional? The service is rushed and impersonal. My order was wrong but they did correct it when we addresses the error. Seats uncomfortable. I did enjoy the dish i ordered and my co.lany seemed to enjoy their meals. The ribs were a HUGE hit as were the wings and poutine.
Solid food and drinks. Drink specials on a Sunday night were a nice touch. Good service. Now how close to actual Louisiana cuisine was the food? I have no idea, but it sure was tasty!
We were a group of eight with reservations. We were seated quickly and drink and appetizer orders were served in a timely manner. I was concerned that our dinner order will not be taken until we finished our appetizers but was pleasantly surprised when our meals came out in almost no time and tasted great. This was our first Creole dinner experience ever in Vancouver. Overall, a great atmosphere and a friendly staff! Would definitely come back for a more intimate dinner! Note: we took these pictures with a bad phone camera. They do not do justice to the great food we had.
Wow, what a hidden gem! The service was fast, the good was great and well portioned. You need to eat here...
Went here long ago but the Jambalaya was great. I used to go to Bourbon Street in Bangkok, Thailand on a regular basis, that was my first exposure to New Orleans food, and I got hooked on the holy trinity. After my first meal there, I just could not get enough. I kept going back, again, and again. So trying out Jambalaya in Vancouver BC was something to do. I was not disappointed at all with Ouisi Bistro. And the ambience is pretty cool. When I was there, I thought the perfect addition would have been Miles Davis setting the scene. Maybe someday I will get to New Orleans. For now, Ouisi Bistro is good to go!
This place is my little gem in the middle of South Granville! Every time I go there the waiters are so friendly and warm. I actually have a thing for their Beignets so I always make sure they have some before I go! Drinks are super good, food is amazing. The ambiance is also very nice, that’s a must go restaurant. And they have also a real good menu for the Dine Out! In this picture it’s an Hurricane! :-)
