Brief History - This ancient holy place is dedicated to Goddess Navdurga. The temple was recently build over an ancient site by Mr. Mohan Aravandekar on his wife Usha's request after they discovered the old temple ruins in their property. Things to see - The temple is part of a piece of land wherein you can also see an old deep stamb (tower of lights). These were normally build in ancient times and placed outside temples. Add to that is an old tree, which is hundreds of years old and part of the complex and the old well, which incidentally provides sweet water round the year even though its about 7 mins to the beach! The well has an unmarked shrine for the local deity considered as the protector of the village. There is a legend here followed till now wherein you re required to make an offering every month to this deity and believe it or not its accepted. You can experience a sense of mental bliss in these peaceful natural surroundings with a gentle breeze from the nearby beach. Events : The Aravandekars perform a bi-annual ritual wherein satvik food is prepared by Brahmins and partaken by the local populace, any one can come and irrespective of caste, creed or class. People volunteer their efforts for cutting the veggies, serving the food etc, however the cooking is strictly for the Brahmins and is indeed a yummy and culturally bonding ritual.
