From the outside the building looks run down and could do with a lick of paint to spruce it up. We were drawn in by the beautiful panoramic views across Ventnor and they did not disappoint. Unfortunately that's where the good experiences ended. When we walked in the indoor part of the restaurant was basically empty. We were told to pick a seat and someone would be over so we did. We picked a seat near the bar and around 5-10 minutes later we were asked for our order despite not receiving any menus so we requested menus and then another 5-10 minutes passed before our order was taken again. By this time numerous customers had been in and left over the amount of time taken to take orders. When customers told staff they were leaving due to no service we heard members of staff very loudly making excuses between themselves for the poor service (such as, being understaffed, a 15 minute wait for service not being too long, and that customers should be able to see they are busy so should be patient and wait). Our order came out fairly quickly although there was a significant delay between my partners cheesy chips coming out and my cake which we didn't really understand (a slice of cake should not take longer than chips) but the food was good quality and was very nice. We were a little surprised at the prices as we have paid far less in better places for what we had. All in all it was a really uncomfortable experience and although we were not really effected by the bad stuff we felt uncomfortable and disappointed in the poor service others felt. I don't believe we will be returning any time soon

This place has awesome views from the windows and outside space of Ventnor Bay!! We both had a Burger and chips which was very nice and filling while looking at the view! This is a real ale pub with local real ale! It was quiet when we were there but got busier as we left! Recommend it and the staff, who are helpful and friendly!!
Came here for a late lunch. Would highly recommend. The staff were so friendly (especially the lady with the ginger hair who always had a smile on her face - sorry I couldn’t catch your name). Thank you so much and extremely covid secure. Would highly recommend!
We had lunch in this very beautiful place with the most wonderful view of the seaside. It was lovely, recommend it!
