The plastics industry today is a strategic pillar of the manufacturing sector in Europe – one whose competitiveness has a significant knock-on effect on other key areas of the economy. It is an inherently innovative industry in its own right, as well as an enabler of innovation across different sectors. The ability of the European plastics industry to remain competitive and to innovate depends on their ability to recruit talented, qualified people. Automation, enabled by information technologies, is transforming traditional plastics manufacturing processes and the nature of work. Moreover, emerging business models disrupt traditional markets. Taken together with economic and demographic trends, as well as a current skills gap, sourcing the right competence has become a pressing challenge for many companies in the plastics industry. The project aims to produce high quality innovative deliverables. The outputs will be developed in close cooperation between plastics industry and VET providers thus enabling to create the content of VET programme that is responsive to changing skills needs in the labour market. The project includes 9 partners from Lithuania, France, Finland and Belgium: 1. Engineering Industries Association of Lithuania, LINPRA 2. Alytus vocational training centre, APRC 3. Visaginas Technology and Business Vocational Education and Training Center, VPM 4. Qualifications and Vocational Education and Training Development Centre, KPMPC 5.
