Dam Neck training staff should really learn when not to have their holding personnel drive into holding for their one muster per day. Especially when there is heavy snow coming down, other based have gone to limited personnel, and people have to drive 45 minutes there as it is. The training staff doesn't seem to be the smartest bulb in the toolshed.

I was there in 1977, for a training course at Guided Missile School. Lot of fun!
Nice place for my son school, definitely need car for transportation
I went to guided missile school there in 1959. Good school.
For an installation of its size FCTCTL was and is pretty good. It wasn't quite as developed back during the 80's when I was there as it is now. The Shifting Sands in particular was not much more than a juke joint. Agree that recreational options on the base may be limited but it was even more so during the time I was there. Today the Shifting Sands is an ultramodern conference center. The base at large has undergone much construction since I was there. A few fast food operators have concessions on the base. Admittedly I spent much of my liberty time out in town. Still I consider the overall experience that I had at Dam Neck as a positive. It's a good facility.
