Some of the jail staff are awesome, others not so much. My fiancé hasn’t been treated the best, they are suppose to be allowed out for at least an hr a day and in the 3 months he’s been there the only time he gets out is when I come for a visit.... The food is really questionable and I can’t believe their actually allowed to feed people that stuff! And if it wasn’t for the hundreds of dollars I spend every week he wouldn’t even have a bar of soap or a toothbrush!

I probably would have given them 2 stars but no one ever answers the phone. Then when they do answer they can't do anything. Medical treatment sketchy at best if inmates can ever even get treatment. If someone attacks an inmate, the inmate who was attacked also gets thrown in the hole. Again with no treatment for their injuries. Animals are treated better than the inmates at this facility. And not to leave out, there are not enough beds so many inmates have to sleep on the floor. Who are these people??? Apparently the jail is an entity unto itself and answers to no one. There is a reason someone is in jail, but they are still human and should be treated that way!

my sister has been in and out of this facility for several years...basically her home...whenever I call to find out information on a new charge of hers, I have always been treated with courtousy...also, when my family and myself would send her money, she was able to get special sandwiches...jails do not have to do that! they go out of their way to make these criminals feel at home...so I suggest that the people complaining on here, to do your homework..also, my family nor I support these sandwiches and other commissary moneys...due to if you continue to do such, you are only enabling the person incarcerated....basically giving them a pat on the back for being bad I used to send her cards ...sometimes 4 per week...but after years of doing this...and she continues to be a bad girl..well, what's the point?!?!? main point here, is that VA Beach jail is one of the best jails my sister has been to, as she thinks it's a hotel...seriously....and they always go out of their way to give me information that has to do with my sister...always very kind. Thank you.
