Are you a fan of cheese, and cheese accessories? Then follow this simple SOP guide on how best to enjoy the Cheese Factory Volendam: 1) Browse cheeses 2) Watch demonstrations on how cheeses are made 3) Sample cheeses 4) Check out the cheese museum within 5) Spend way too much money on cheese and cheese accessories 6) ??? 7) Profit; go home happy! Be warned, though: some of the cheeses are quite, uh...potent. I purchased a three-pack of various aged Old Amsterdam gouda, each more mature, robust and, well, let's just stay, odorous than the rest. The first two were absolutely delicious, but the third was too much for even my strong stomach, palate and olfactory senses. You'll recognize it by the salt and "sweat", and the aroma will hit you like a freight train when you crack the seal.
A nice place to visit in Volendam. This is a good place for cheese lovers because one can know more about how the cheeses are made, and also how to use the special knives for each type of cheese. After that there's a type of tasting they offer. After the visit, one can buy some gifts and souvenirs in the cheese factory shop.

I bought a day tour in amstraderm that brought me to this factory. Live demo of how cheese is made, endless tasting and they also sell a lot of cheese of different flavours. Must say their cheese is of good quality and prices not much difference from any shops or supermarkets in Amsterdam. I came home with 2 kgs of cheese. They are the best. Please give me like! The prices are a little bit expensive, so be carefull if you feel the need to buy a lot of cheese and other goodies. You can find better prices in a regular supermarket. The experience is very good, and you can taste a lot of varieties of cheese.
Best cheese place. Their goat cheese and the smoked cheese are the best takeaways. A must visit when you are in Volendam. They also show you how cheese is processed and let you taste all cheese flavors.
