We drove 50km for an outing to experience Sunday Cantina after listening to the owner on National Radio. The food was excellent and the coffee a blast from the past - bottomless filter, great taste with the full cream milk. Google Maps navigated us to a car park, don't be dismayed the rear entrance is straight ahead!

Obviously this is my own personal taste reflected here. The look of the place is old school holiday batch. Scruffy decoration, mismatched furniture etc gives it a cheap feel which possibly works better in summer. They serve a pretty limited menu which is mostly bagels. Several filings but just bagels. Mine was nice but my friend was not so impressed and left a chunk uneaten. This would be fine except the prices are ridiculously expensive! Service was efficient but not friendly. Neither of us would go back again.
I googled 'caterer kapiti coast' (last year) and after talking with the mostly unhelpful few, I was lucky enough to get in contact with Fiona here at Sunday Cantina. Comms were quick, helpful and the food was #chefskiss aka 100% amazing. Nothing was too hard for this team which is so refreshing after other places in the area - have been recommending all over the show and about to place another catering order for a larger group. Highly recommend -and I must say, I read the review about decor... don't let that deter you from visiting. You aren't there to eat the furniture after all ;)

Take a detour off Kapiti coast motor way and stop in Waikanae shopping centre.Here you will find hidden a cafe that is Gluten free, Vegetarian,Vegan and preservative free. Entering you can smell the freshness of locally sourced products. Using quality ingredients these guys have it Sussed. The coffee is drip filtered and at 3 I have been told it is a good brew. They provide cooking classes and also do catering for social occasions. There is outdoor seating and a sandpit for children. Normally only open week days during December they are open Saturday. Their hot turmeric drink made with coconut water is delicious.
