How was it? It was sad. So very sad. My husband was trying to tell me about Captain Cook and then he said the plaque was sure to do a better job of explaining. So we drive up and find a broken park, homeless (but surprisingly super friendly, wonderful people!), and NO PLAQUE! Nothing to even say we were in the right place. The only mention I found of Cook was across the river at the Russian Fort.

This place was astounding. I really needed a restroom and honestly it was so disgusting I was worried about contracting a disease. What could have been a lovely park and Oceanside beach is actually just a dumping ground for the homeless. drugs and trash everywhere. Bathrooms were awful. -10 out of 10 stars. It was awful. Definitely don’t leave your personally owned vehicle in this parking lot. Better yet - skip this place entirely.
I didn't see any markers or places that explained the landing site, but it is a nice park and had a good ocean access point. There is a Captain Cook statue a bit if a walk away, but I didn't see anything by the water about it.
Great view. Bet it would be spectacular for sunset/sunrise
He got cooked!
The place was not one I would go to on a dark night. It was even difficult to figure out where it was and any of the signage that might have helped was no where to be found.
Where is his landing site tell me
Nothing here apart from homeless people living out of their cars. I'd avoid it. Go one block inland to the main street to see the Cook statue.
