In the type of person who always thinks about writing a review starting it with 'I never leave reviews', and then well... I never leave a review. I had the most wonderful day on Hawaii Adventures Now 3 Crater tour, led by Mike, which is so much more than the trip title, this is part review and part thank you. I arrived on the Big Island not sure how I was going to be able to see all that I was interested in. Wow, did I get to see so much because I took this tour - I saw wildlife, a spectacular variety of scenery, multiple volcanoes from afar, from the rim and the crater. The provided for lunch and dinner were perfect, the local history was informative and interesting. I have so many photos! The timing of every stop never left me feeling rushed, I just felt like I was getting to spend the day with someone proudly showing the wonderful place they get to live. Whether you have a day or many days on the Big Island, I encourage anyone who wants to see and do everything to take this tour. If you don't... well you're missing out. For me it was the absolute highlight of my visit. Thank you Mike for the wonderful care and attention to detail this tour encompasses.

Spectacular. I just had the opportunity to spend a day with Mike. It's like drinking from a firehose! His breadth (and depth) of knowledge is amazing. After a day with him, I am rejuvenated, excited, and inspired. Botany. Geology. Vulcanology. Culture. History. Astronomy. It's all woven together into a day unlike any I've experienced. I feel like I just took a semester of "Hawai'i" in one day, and count myself lucky to have experienced Mike's easy demeanor and good humor. A highlight was being able to go on one of Mike's secret hikes. Only a handful of people on the island are eligible/allowed to do some of the things he does, and this hike does not disappoint. It's a big island. If you're looking for a way to experience a good chunk of it, this is it. You don't scratch the surface, either. You're immersed. It's not shallow. It's a deep, meaningful thing. One day with Mike will change your worldview - for the better.
