For a small donation this is worth an hour of wondering around the space. Don't expect anything fancy, think more roadside dive. The lady running the site is very knowledgeable and likes to teach. She seemed to know a little bit about everything plants, animals and history. I do recommend using mosquito repellent that is offered at the entrance.

Loved the statues, trails very over grown, not much signage, map was not helpful, staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Might have been lovely at one time but much of the garden is overgrown and poorly maintained. Animals are well cared for and trails are well marked, but botanical signs are faded or deteriorated. Visitors center had working bathrooms, but maps and photos had fallen off the walls onto the floor, spiderwebs and dirt abound. Not worth the 15 pp entrance fee. Handsome peacock guarded the sign.
Everytime we are on the Big Island, we make a point to stop here. The gardens are gorgeous, the sculptures are fun and make for great photos, there is a ton of wildlife, and great hiking trails. The staff is super friendly too. I highly recommend spending an hour or two here.
Beautiful garden with a monarch butterfly tree and many large metal statues
This is a roadside attraction in it's twilight years. If you're looking for some polished, zero effort banquet of instant gratification, you will find many other places on the island that will gladly take your money and time. If you're looking for a quirky, eccentric, dirty, rambling mini adventure then check this place out. I had a great time exploring the grounds and I had the place all to myself. Like most roadside attractions of yesteryear, this place started with one man's unique vision. Monumental efforts were put into this property and although that vision was probably never fully realized, what remains is certainly worth seeing. The "garden" brought me back to a time when a man could earn a living by building a bunch of giant dinosaurs in a forest or burying Cadillacs in the desert. I met 17 year old Chihuahua that hangs out with a tortise. I searched through hot, dusty buildings filled with history. I saw the fabled silver turkey. I got thirsty, sunburned and a little lost... And it was great.
I drove into the parking lot and said wow. The sculptures are so pretty with flowers around them. The lady working was super nice and told me about the garden and showed me the butterflies. I hope to return one day to see what else is added over time. There was lots of wildlife and she had animals there too. I was the only person there so I was able to explore as much as I wanted.
If you think of having leisure and pleasant walking through that place you're all wrong. The place is quite big, it's very dry, not kept well and infested with ants. Map doesn't help much , all you can see is arrow signs without trail names. The person at check-in tried to do her best to make our visit worth it. I only give three stars because my daughter enjoyed feeding peacocks they have in enclose. Come in the morning to avoid heat or better go someplace else.
