Hoping the Fort will be restored, and have re-enactors to show the tourists more about this place.

Seemed like there was some cool history on offer here but the foot trail is so overgrown that you really can't experience it the way it was intended. Still a peaceful little park though.

Not much to see a few walls. Nice ocean view but water not best quality, rain surges & makes water brown. Once was enough for me...jack

Secluded. Nice tropical breeze. Perfect beach to have a picnic, some alone time, and or quick snooze.

Very interesting historical information. The fort is very torn apart. All the info is at the trail head, nothing inside the fort. Take the time to walk to the back. A beautiful view of the river entering the ocean is a must on this spot. Great for a 30 minute stop, public restrooms available.

Fort maintenance has been neglected so not much to see but the view of Waimea River and the Bay where Captain Cook anchored on Jan 20, 1778 is great.

This place is completely uninteresting from a visual standpoint. If you read the history about the fort it makes the fact that the location and foundation are still there interesting. As far as stopping to visit, may I point out that it has a bathroom that is conveniently located and easily accessible from the main highway (that isn’t crowded). We used this particular restroom several times over the week we visited. In fact we used it enough that the term “Russian Fort” now refers to the need for someone to relieve themselves. A souvenir that I didn’t anticipate bringing home from the island.

There is only the wall left off the old fort. Nice walk around the place. If you walk to the back of the structure towards the ocean you will get some great views of what is a black sand beach.
