We loved the service provided by Thrifty Tours. In particular: the continuous communication with them; the perfect scheduling and coordination of each activity; very well located accommodations; and that the conditions were clear at all times. It was our first time booking a tour online, and it worked perfectly. We like to travel at our own pace, and traveling with a group was not an option. In the other hand, it was not possible to us to coordinate all the accommodations, trains, coaches, etc. by ourselves.

I’m updating my experience with the Thrifty Tour because how they mislead me for part of the tour. I was sold a day tour to Lake Tekapo from Queenstown which was merely a service run by intercity bus with local commuters to squeeze in a a 30 min slot for a photo opportunity/toilet break/lunch, and worst of all I was made to sit on bus an entire day for that, a total of 8 hours to and from Queenstown. Upon complaint, Shelley, the agent came up with all invalid justifications and didn’t even try to compensate for the rip off. DO NOT be fooled with the Thrifty Tour. There are plenty of better options available, for example, Juicy, Southern Discoveries etc. I regret dealing with them.
We left ourselves in the capable hands of Thrifty Tours for 7 days and it was totally great! I had previously read some comments on the internet where people had complained that they had to find their own way to the different tours or the guides on those tours were not good enough or the picnic lunches on the tours were not good enough... It was definitely not the case for us! We were picked up from our hotels and dropped off where we wanted, the guides were very helpful in every possible way (they were very informative and also did everything to keep us safe and happy), and the picnic lunches were some of the best food we had in NZ :)) I was really impressed with the efficiency of the tourism sector in NZ and in particular with Emma Shaw from Thrifty Tours \u003c3 She answered all our questions with patience and promptness, recommended just the right things for us, and in the end conjured an itinerary that met all our wishes. Thank you for this great experience!
I rate the Southern Circuit Tour tour over 100% - I had the best time, everything was so well organised. A huge shout out to Victoria who made the trip as stress free as possible. Very professional, great communication, and I really enjoyed using the app. I highly recommend using Thrifty Tours. Thank you so much. New Zealand was amazing!
I had the most amazing tour of South Island New Zealand before coved 19 closed us down. It was booked by Vickie at Thrifty tours. The itinerary was fabulous and accomodation was excellent. The trip of a life time. Thanks for all the recommendations and inclusions, some highlights included the tour of Milford Sound and the helihike at Franz Joseph.
The water taxi in Wanaka to the island with the lake on top was beyond amazing! Loved Wanaka it was a charming town
I recently went on a tour organised by Thrifty Tours around the South Island. I had a great time made especially easy by Louise's fantastic organisation. The tour was great value, the hotels were all well appointed and everything went like clockwork. Louise also maintained contact with me while on the tour letting me know of any changes along the way. I would highly recommend Thrifty Tours if you want a tour that allows you the flexibility to do things yourself while making sure all essentials like accommodation and transport are booked.
